The invention relates to an apparatus for separating solid matter from a liquid which carries solid matter. The apparatus consists of a substantially cylindrically designed shaft and at least one discharge element (8) radially disposed in relation thereto and by means of which the solid matter compressed in the compression zone (2) is conveyed substantially radially to the conveyor spiral (1).
