A method for the specific detection of RNA in the presence of sequence identical DNA, where a reverse-transcriptase (RT) reaction is performed, by producing an RT primer with a first and second sequence (A and B) to detect RNA complementary to cDNA, and amplifying the cDNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), is new. (A) specifically hybridizes with the RNA. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an RT primer to specifically detect RNA in the presence of an identical DNA sequence; and (2) a kit with an RT primer as above and a buffer solution, Taq-buffer solution, a PCR primer, dNTP solution and/or DTT solution.
