The electric drive is used for rotation of a drive wheel (3) having a central axis which is offset from the central axes of the trolley wheels (7,8), so that the latter are lifted from the ground, when the drive wheel is brought into contact with the ground, in the transport position of the golf trolley. The electric drive and the drive wheel may be attached to an existing trolley via an adapter (4) so that the drive wheel is positioned midway between the trolley wheels.
