An Independent claim is included for corresponding equipment to carry out the process. Preferred features: At any stage, external liquid additives can be introduced. The machine has external heating. Gases and/or steam (9) evolved are used in preconditioning and/or machine heating. The outlet constriction is a matrix forming the product. The matrix is perforated. Alternatively an insert with annular or straight gap is used. Product leaving, is cut to length and/or textured by a pair of rollers.
