PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platelike element for a belttype continuously variable transmission which has a larger friction coefficient and produces larger transmis sion torque and is little worn away. ;SOLUTION: In a belttype continuously variable transmission which has a belt made of many plate-like elements laminated in the direction of thickness between an input side pulley whose groove width is changed in the direction of an input shaft and an output side pulley whose groove width is changed in the direction of an output shaft, projections and grooves are made alternately in the direction agreeing with or approximating to the thickness on the element side surface 6F contacting the pulley wall surface of the plate-like element 6 and the surface of the projection contacting the pulley wall surface is made uneven.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
