PURPOSE: To reduce the superposing ratio of dots and to improve the image quality by dividing recording ink particles into a plurality of groups to disperse kinetic energy when the number of the particles implanted to one pixel exceeds a specified number, and recording them in a time series sequence in a main scanning direction. ;CONSTITUTION: A vibrator driver CD for amplifying exciting clocks from an oscillator OS to drive a vibrator 3 to particulate ink jet in synchronization with it is provided. A pulse width modulation PWM for converting the density data DA of a pixel read from a line buffer LB in synchronization with the dot clock from a shaft encoder SE on the shaft of a rotary drum DR into a pulse width modulation signal is provided. If the density data of the pixel is a specified value or more, the signal responsive to the density data is divided into a plurality of recording pulse widths, the ink particles responsive to the density data is divided into a plurality of recording pulses, and the ink particles implanted to one pixel are divided into a plurality of groups, and so controlled as to record them in a time series sequence in a main scanning direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
