PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device having a sealing structure for preventing intrusion of foreign matter such as magnetic powder and fitted with a rotating speed detecting device having a sufficient mounting tolerance and capable of making the axial dimension of a fixed member as small as possible. ;SOLUTION: This wheel bearing device comprises a fixed member 1 fixed to a vehicle body, a rotating member 6 freely rotatably supported through a bearing 7 inside the fixed member 1 and attached to a wheel, and a sensor sealing member 31 for sealing a space between the fixed member 1 and the rotating member 6. An annular sensor 21 is attached to the bore surface of a knuckle 5 constituting the fixed member 1 on the inboard side past the bearing 7, and the sensor sealing member 31 is fitted over the sensor 21 on the inboard side past the sensing part of the sensor 21. The sealing lip of the sensor sealing member 31 is brought into sliding contact with the sealing land of the joint outer ring 36 of a constant-velocity universal joint 11 constituting the rotating member 6, and an encoder 26 facing the sensing part of the sensor 21 between the sensor sealing member 31 and the bearing 7 is attached to a bearing inner ring 9 which constitutes the rotating member 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
