PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more accurate method for reconstituting a three- dimensional image from conical beam projection data. ;SOLUTION: An array of a radiation source and a detecting device positioned on opposed side surfaces of a certain area is used for generating scanning data on the area from plural branch radiation beams, that is, conical beams. Conical beam scanning data on the area is converted into parallel beam scanning data. The converted parallel beam scanning data relates to a set of oblique slices on the area. Several oblique slices have an angle nonvertical to the axis of ordinate of the area. Projection data on the respective oblique slices is convoluted. Afterwards, image data on the area is generated by three-dimensional inverse projection of the projection data convoluted along a passage of an interpolated beam of light.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
