PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerator pedal device and a damper for an automobile capable of preventing excessive pedal depression, extending a pedal depression force range for fixedly maintaining a rotational position of an accelerator pedal arm in accordance with the quantity of pedal depression, easily coping with various histeresis characteristics and reducing cost.;SOLUTION: This device is provided with a support frame 5, a shaft member 7 rotatably supported by the support frame 5, a coil spring 9 for rotating and energizing the accelerator pedal arm 8 which is mounted on the shaft member 7 in an initial rotation position, a rotatable shaft 122, a damper 10 for generating a friction resistance force which gradually increases according to the rotation from the initial rotation position of the rotatable shaft 122 and a transmission mechanism 123 for transmitting the rotation from at least the initial rotation position of the accelerating pedal 8 to the rotatable shaft.
