This invention concerns a process for stacking enveloping packaging units which can be filled with non-self-supporting containers and are composed of trays and hooded lids, with which the problem of increasing display efficiency is solved. In particular, this is done in such a way that the greatest number of packaging units are on display ready for sale in the store without the entire stack collapsing or the containers, which are not self-supporting, being crushed. This is achieved in that the hooded lids (4) of the enveloping packaging units (1) (in the ready for sale position) are removed and vertical carton blanks (6) designed as support elements (6) are inserted between the non-self-supporting containers (2).
