Park-lock mechanism for motor vehicle with an automatic transmission

The parking lock has a control logic which only allows the automatic gearbox (1) to be locked when the gear selection lever (3) for the automatic gearbox is moved into the park position, the vehicle velocity is zero and the engine ignition circuit is broken via the ignition key (5). The locking of the automatic gearbox is delayed for a further interval, or until a vehicle door is opened, or the ignition key is removed from the ignition lock.
