PURPOSE: A method for improving the surface of metallic alloys for hydrogen storage for a Ni/MH secondary battery using flake type Ni is provided to improve various performance and the life cycle of an electrode and increase the discharging amount of the electrode by improving the surface characteristics of the metallic alloys for hydrogen storage using a flake type Ni of which surface area is larger than that of ordinary spherical Ni powder. CONSTITUTION: In a method for improving the surface characteristics of AB2 type and AB type metallic alloys for hydrogen storage, the method comprises the process of improving the surface characteristics of the metallic alloys for hydrogen storage by mixing a flake type metallic powder with the AB2 type and AB type metallic alloys for hydrogen storage before ball milling the mixture, or using the flake type metallic powder as a current collector, wherein the flake type metallic powder is one metallic powder selected from a flake type Ni, flake type Cu, flake type palladium, or flake type Cr, wherein a Spex mill or an attritor mill is used in the ball milling, and wherein the AB type metallic alloys for hydrogen storage is a V-Ti based alloy, and the AB2 type metallic alloys for hydrogen storage is a Zr based alloy or a Ti based alloy.
