The present invention relates to an electrically switchable, light scattering microparticulate sheet having two control electrodes and a cavity containing electrophoretically mobile particles in a suspension fluid, wherein the sheet is made of a light scattering material. A composite sheet having optical properties is provided. Composite sheets having such electrically switchable optical properties can be used as display panels, computer displays or flat screens.
