PURPOSE: An optical communication system using 4-wavelength circulator add/drop type WDMs(Wavelength Division Multiplexers) is provided to offer optical communication services, without additionally installing optical cables, at a low cost by installing slave units, composed of wavelength path add/drop type 4-wavelength optical modules, in an optical communication system using WDMs of 1310nm and 1550nm. CONSTITUTION: The wavelength transmitted to a master unit(590) from a base station(500) is 1310nm. The wavelength transmitted to the base station(500) from the master unit(590) is 1550nm. In the case of communication to the second slave unit(B) adjacent to the master unit(590) from the first slave unit(A) adjacent to the base station(500), a wavelength of 1550nm is used. In the case of communication to the first slave unit(A) from the second slave unit(B), a wavelength of 1310nm is used. In the case of communication to the master unit(590) from the base station(500), the 1310nm wavelength outputted from the base station(500) is firstly divided by the first WDM(510) of the first slave unit(A) and then supplied to the first port of the first circulator(520). The wavelength inputted to the first port of the first circulator(520) is outputted to the second port along an optical path. The 1310nm wavelength passed through the first circulator(520) is firstly combined through the third WDM and then supplied to the first WDM(550) of the second slave unit(B). The 1310nm wavelength supplied to the second slave unit(B) is transmitted to the master unit(590) through the same course as the first slave unit(A). In the case of communication to the base station(500) from the master unit(590), the 1510nm wavelength supplied from the master unit(590) is firstly divided by the third WDM(580) of the second slave unit(B) and then supplied to the second WDM(570). The wavelength inputted to the second WDM(570) is multiplexed, combined by the first WDM(550), and supplied to the third WDM(540) of the first slave unit(A). The 1510nm wavelength supplied to the first slave unit(A) is transmitted to the base station(500) through the same course as the second slave unit(B).
