The rotating mechanical component analysis device uses at least 2 peak value detectors (26,28) with different signal decay time constants, each receiving the signal provided by a sensor (10) for the rotating mechanical component (12) at its input and coupled at its output to a frequency analysis unit (38), e.g. via a summation stage (34) for providing a sum signal from the peak value detector output signals. An Independent claim for an analysis method for a rotating mechanical component is also included.
