The switching device consists of a housing and electrical functional units such as switches. Electrical connections (11) are made from the functional units and extend out of the housing to connection wires. The connections (11) lie in a grid pattern with a grid spacing (d). Connections having the same potential are arranged directly adjacent to each other at the grid spacing (d). Connections of unequal potential are arranged so that they are separated by at least twice the grid spacing (d). The connections are designed for quick attachment, especially in the form of plug connection lugs.
