A control device for an absorption refrigerator has a desorber (1), a condenser (2), an evaporator (3) an absorber (4) that comprises a controllable heating device for the heating of the desorber and a temperature sensor (6) for the detection of a temperature in a cold chamber of the refrigerator. The control device (8) is designed to switch down the heating power passed to the heating device to a lower value when the temperature detected by the temperature sensor falls below a given lower temperature threshold and to switch up the heating power to a higher value when the temperature rises above a given upper temperature threshold. The upper value is greater than the lower value and the lower value is greater than zero.
