Laser-markable thermoplastics containing as dopants: (a) effect pigments coated with anthracene and/or pentaerythritol; or, (b) a mixture of effect pigment(s) with anthracene and/or pentaerythritol. Independent claims are also included for: (i) a process for the production of laser-markable plastics by mixing thermoplastics with (a) or (b) and then molding the mixture by heating; (ii) molded products consisting of these laser-markable plastics.
