An ionically conducting molecule comprises a molecular chain that provides an ionic conductor path and a boroxine ring which is connected to the molecular chain and which traps anions. The boroxine ring preferably includes an alkoxy group and the molecular chain preferably comprises an ether chain, more preferably (-CH2-CH2-O-). Independent claims are given for: (a) an ionic conductor; and (b) a process for production of an ionic conductor. The ionic conductor comprises: (i) an electrolyte for ionic conduction, preferably a lithium sa (ii) the above ionically conducting molecule comprising a molecular chain that provides an ionic conductor path and a boroxine ring which is connected to the molecular chain and which traps anions arising from the saline electrolyte; and (iii) a structural element for dispersion and immobilization of the ionically conducting molecule and the saline electrolyte in its body. Preferably, the ionically conducting molecule is compatible with the structural element, and the ionic conductor is annealed.
