P Method for the wave surface analysis of a light beam, in which a diffraction grating with rectangular mesh is placed in a plane perpendicular to the light beam to be analyzed and optically conjugate of the analysis plane. Different beams emerging from the network interfere by forming an image whose deformations are linked to the gradients of the wave surface analyzed. The method is characterized in that the grating (GR) performs the multiplication of an intensity function, performed by a grating (GI3A), which defines a rectangular mesh of sub-pupils transmitting the light of the beam to be analyzed into several beams emergents arranged in a rectangular mesh with a phase function, performed by a network (GP4) which introduces, between two adjacent emerging beams, a phase shift such that these two emerging beams are in phase opposition. /P
