PURPOSE: To eliminate need for drying unhulled rice samples and also realize rapid and stable evaluation irrespective of irregularity of sample moisture content at the time of receiving and measuring. ;CONSTITUTION: When received unhulled rice is pun into a receiving hopper 1, the unhulled rice is supplied to a charging elevator 6 via a receiving elevator 1, a rough selector 3 and an automatic gage 4. On the other hand, samples extracted at the time of measuring by the automatic gage 4 are led to a quality evaluating device 7 where they are broken into small pieces in a state of the unhulled rice and application of near-infrared rays allows absorbance with respect to each wavelength to be obtained. Absorbance of the wavelength associated with a component of interest whose internal quality is to be evaluated is calculated from the obtained absorbance, and the calculated absorbance is used to measure the component value of interest by an internal quality evaluation equation (calibration curve) which can be applied to a predetermined moisture content range which has been obtained in advance. When the component value of interest is thus measured, unhulled rice currently being received is sorted to a predetermined preservation tank among tanks 13A to 13I by sorting conveyers 11, 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
