The invention is intended to outfit internal combustion engines, operating in nonstationary duty, with valves whose movement can be described as general alternating planar. The invention transforms the rotary motion of the cam into general alternating planar motion of the valve, producing laws of transformation of motion which are instantly variable in continuous manner, thanks to the continuous variation of the position of the central support of the balancing arm 1, or the support on the engine a, according to a straight line segment. This enables varying the position of the instantaneous centre of rotation of the balancing arm v, which can approach the point of contact with the cam p or, in the opposite situation, approach the point of contact with the valve x. Depending on the positions of the outer cup of the bearing 4, the variator 5, the guides of the variator 6, the bearing 8, and the inner cup of the bearing 9, as defined by the variator 10, one then obtains particular laws of transformation of motion. The balancing arm has a surface, from h to g, along which is situated the line of contact with the outer cup of the bearing a. To obtain mechanical equilibrium in the balancing arm, a fixator 3 is used, which shares an axis of rotation with the balancing arm c and turns around the fixed axis of the engine d. The invention thus allows a constant and instantaneous optimisation, in continuous manner, of the laws of motion of the engine valves. IMAGE
