PHASE ERROR CANCELLATION METHOD FOR FM-CW RADAR

A signal processing method is presented for FM-CW radar where coherency intime of themixer output signal is restored between the frequency sweep intervals, by thecancellationof the phase error (shift) between consecutive intervals. The restoration ofcoherencyallows much higher resolution of the frequency spectra to be achieved, thus -improvingthe spatial resolution of the radar and reducing the dead zone. At the sametime, thesignal processing method allows for automatic correction of the frequencysweep function.
