The steering column has a universal joint (5) onto which the steering wheel-end section is coupled and through which the axis of rotation runs. Preferred Features: The bracket has two opposite side walls (8) between which the steering wheel-end section runs and on each of which a guide slit (10) for the steering wheel-end section is formed. The clamping device is arranged in at least one of the guide slits.
