The steering column train for a motor vehicle has the connection between the steering spindle (2) and steering shaft (3) in the form a torque transmitting joint, and with an axially movable rocking element (4) for axial length compensation. A joint (6) is installed on the steering spindle end lying opposite the steering wheel, and the axis (Ag) of the joint extends at right angles to the rotational axes (Dbo, Dbu) of the coupling component (11) of the rocking element. The joint is connected to the coupling element by a connecting element (10).
