System comprises: a source of document generation control information for determining a given document presentation format and chosen content structure; a document template generator for use of the control information to produce a template structure with element positions that are set for corresponding data elements and; a document processor that uses the control information to fill in the template document element positions with corresponding data elements derived from the information store to produce a final document. Independent claims are made for a graphical user interface for supporting production and processing of document specification files and information and a method for producing structured documents form an information database.
