The chain drive (4') is inserted into a chain case (1), which is open at the top and bottom. It consists of a chain (4",6") pinion which is fitted to a shaft journal (7) on a crank shaft. A central screw (8) fitted into the crankshaft, and an oscillation damper or belt pulley (9) outside the chain case, press the pinion positively against the end face (5") of the crankshaft to transmit the required torque. There may be a second chain drive (6') with an additionally coaxial pinion (6), and with similar positive torque transmission via the screw.
