PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool made of coated cemented carbide in which a hard coated layer exhibits an excellent chipping-resistant property at a deep cutting processing.;SOLUTION: In the cutting tool made of coated cemented carbide, the hard coated layer comprising a composite nitride layer of Ti and Zr is physically vapor-deposited on a surface of a tungsten carbide-base cemented carbide base body or titanium carbide nitride-base cermet base body with a whole average layer thickness of 1-15 μm. The hard coated layer of the cutting tool has a component concentration distribution structure in which the Zr component maximum containing point (Ti component minimum containing point) and the Zr component non-containing point (TiN point) alternately repeatedly exist at a predetermined interval in the layer thickness direction and the Zr component content is continuously varied from the Zr component maximum containing point to the Zr component non-containing point or from the Zr component non-containing point to the Zr component maximum containing point. The Zr component maximum containing point satisfies a composition formula: (Ti1-XZrX)N (where X represents 0.05-0.35 at an atomic ratio).
