PURPOSE: To enable firm jointing without requiring site welding and dispense with special machining such as thread cutting and nut welding in a steel pipe column of closed cross section. ;CONSTITUTION: Connecting plates 23 are placed on four sides of the inner periphery across an upper and a lower steel pipe columns 21, 22 formed of rectangular steel pipes, and angle members 24 are placed on four corners of the outer periphery. Temporary fastening bolts 25 for fastening these angle members 24 and connecting plates 23 to the upper steel pipe column 21 are provided being positioned near the upper ends of the angle members 24. The angle members 24, the pipe walls of the steel pipe columns 21, 22, and the connecting plates 23 are jointed to one another by one-side bolts 1 piercing these three members.
