PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dioxin-degrading microorganism sought from the natural world so that the environment can be cleaned up.;SOLUTION: Four strains of the dioxin-degrading microorganism are identified by screening strains capable of degrading dioxins from microorganisms in soil and determining the DNA sequence of a ribosomal RNA gene of the strains. The four strains have homology to Shingobacterium multiborum, Pseudomonas nitroreducens, Pseudomonas alcaligenes and Pseudomonas savastani with 99-97% probability, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
