METHOD FOR STRENGTHENING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ECDSA AGAINST POWER ANALYSIS

A method of inhibiting the disclosure of confidential information throughpoweranalysis attacks on processors in cryptographic systems. The method masks acryptographic operation using a generator. A secret value is combined with thegenerator to form a secret generator. The secret value is divided into aplurality of parts.A random value is generated for association with the plurality of parts. Eachof theplurality of parts is combined with the random value to derive a plurality ofnew valuessuch that the new values when combined are equivalent to the secret value.Each of thenew values is used in the cryptographic operation, thereby using the secretgenerator inplace of the generator G in the cryptographic operation. The introduction ofrandomnessintroduces of noise into algorithms used by cryptographic systems to mask thesecretvalue and protect against power analysis attacks.
