PURPOSE: A plasma display panel is provided to achieve improved efficiency of discharge and high luminance characteristics by improving the plasma density formed in the discharge space and increasing the amount of ultraviolet radiation generated from discharge. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel comprises a first substrate(20) and a second substrate(22) arranged substantially parallel with each other with a spacing formed between the first and second substrates; a plurality of address electrodes(26) formed on the first substrate; a first dielectric layer(24) formed all over the first substrate in such a manner that the address electrodes are covered with the dielectric layer; a plurality of barrier ribs(34) arranged upright to have predetermined heights on the first dielectric layer, and which form discharge spaces(36); phosphor layers(38) formed in the discharge spaces; a plurality of discharge sustain electrodes(30) disposed on the surface of the second substrate opposed to the first substrate, in such a manner that the discharge sustain electrodes are perpendicular to the address electrodes; a second dielectric layer(28) formed all over the second substrate in such a manner that the discharge sustain electrodes are covered by the dielectric layer; a discharge gas injected into the discharge spaces; and a plasma density improvement unit arranged on the barrier ribs and the first substrate. The plasma density improvement unit includes a discharge antenna(40) supported by the barrier ribs and which receives driving power from an external source; and a magnet(42) installed inside or outside of the first substrate.
