PURPOSE: A method for minimizing peak shift and attenuation of the amplitude in a magnetic disk drive is provided to prevent attenuation of the amplitude due to peak shift without affecting preamble and data patterns by using an ID/data address mark in a pattern easily recognizable by a magnetic disk drive in encoding an address mark. CONSTITUTION: ID/data address mark is used in a pattern easily recognizable by a magnetic disk drive. In the case that the magnetic disk drive uses a 1,7 RLL code, a '4T' pattern address mark is used. In the case that the magnetic disk drive uses a 8/9 code, a '3T' pattern address mark is used.
