Production of compost and methane comprises mixing farmyard slurry with a cellulase-enriched liquid and a fermented material containing cellulose-degrading biological agents in a mixer (2); fermenting the mixture at 30-60 deg C in one or more reactors (3) for 10-30 days; collecting the resulting methane; and dewatering and composting the fermentation product for several days to weeks.
