Method for precise determination of the radius (R) of a curved surface (1) using an optical curvature sensor (2) with which a curvature value is generated dependent on the distance of the sensor from the surface. According to the method two measurements are made at the same position, but at two different distances from the surface. From the two measurements an absolute value is determined for the radius.
