The regulating unit includes a piston arrangement (10,12,14,16) with a permanent magnet (16). A coil arrangement (26,28) is provided as a two-terminal network and acts together with the poles of the permanent magnets. The coil arrangement moves the piston arrangement into two stop positions caused by an impulse-like current provided to the coil arrangement. The piston arrangement remains in its current position when the coil arrangement is not provided with any impulse-like current. An Independent claim is also provided for another electromagnetic regulating unit having a spring in the housing of the piston arrangement for moving or keeping the piston arrangement into one of the stop positions when the coil arrangement is not provided with any impulse-like current.
