The device has a housing (1a) defining an air channel (5-7,11,12) containing a foil element (13,14) for opening/closing the air channel opening. A fixing section (16d,16e) fixes one end of the foil element to the housing at an outer edge of the opening. An operating mechanism (17,18,21,22) can move on the opening of the air channel in a first direction away from the fixing section and in a second direction toward the fixing section. The operating mechanism changes the length of the foil element at its other end through movement of the operating mechanism on the opening of the air channel. Independent claims are also included for alternative air channel opening/closing devices. Preferred Features: The operating mechanism consists of a foil winding shaft connected to one end of the foil element, and a movement mechanism for moving the foil winding shaft on the outer edge of the opening in the first and the second direction while the foil winding shaft rotates.
