An automotive camshaft drive control unit has esp. a guide rail (2) which has two push-fit fixtures and an inner guide (6) linked to a central support (1). The central guide (6) positions the drive wheels (7, 9) and tensioning rail (2). Together the guide rail (2) and tension rail (3) form an almost totally enclosed channel (10) for the camshaft chain (8).
