When the bed is first used it is fitted with a high head- and foot-board as well as with slatted side parts (3, 4) in order to accommodate a baby. The slatted sides (3, 4) and the lower segments of the head- and the foot-board, which are at first assembled of an upper and a lower segment, can be removed when the bed is to be converted into a junior bed. Additional frame and mattress sections (5) can be inserted enabling the bed to grow in accordance with its child owner.
