PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment apparatus for painting, which saves the space, improves the productivity, and greatly reduces costs of facilities and treating agents, the number of operating steps and a burden of effluent treatment, even for a composite body of aluminum and iron. PSOLUTION: This pretreatment apparatus comprises a treatment tank 101 that is filled with a treatment liquid for both degreasing and chemical conversion, containing at least a mixed solvent of a polar organic solvent and water which have a weight ratio of 2.8:7.2 to 3.8:6.2, sodium ions and/or lithium ions, phosphate ions, zinc ions, nickel ions, manganese ions, nitrate ions and/or nitrite ions; further a zone 300 for chemically conversion-coating aluminum by spraying a chemical conversion coating solution for aluminum to the automotive body B, which is installed in the down stream of the treatment tank 101; a rinsing tank 201; a fluorescent X-ray analyzer 501 for measuring the coating weight of a chemical conversion coating formed on the aluminum surface of the automotive body, which is installed in the down stream of the rinsing tank; and a control device 503 for controlling a condition for the chemical conversion coating based on the measured coating weight of the chemical conversion coating.
