PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a liquid crystal display element which ensures high contrast and high luminance and is uninfluenced by electrical asymmetry without using a reset pulse or performing a arithmetic operation between image data.;SOLUTION: In the first driving method, one frame consists of a first field and a second field, data are written two or more times in the first field at a prescribed signal voltage, and then the sign of the signal voltage is reversed and data are written two or more times in the second field.
