PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for learning pairs of words of parallel translation, whereby a pair of words of parallel translation consisting of a word or a word string serving as elements of a first natural language sentence needed for the process of translating first natural language into second natural language, and a corresponding word or word string serving as elements of a second natural language sentence can be automatically and correctly extracted in larger numbers. PSOLUTION: The method includes inputting the first natural language sentence and the second natural language sentence which is its parallel translation (S1); creating a pair of words or word strings which are in the relationship of parallel translation obtained when a word or word string serving as elements of the first natural language sentence is correlated with a word or word string serving as elements of the second natural language sentence (S2); creating a pair of words or word strings in the relationship of parallel translation obtained when a word or word string serving as elements of the second natural language sentence is correlated with a word or word string serving as elements of the first natural language sentence (S3); and extracting the same pair of words of parallel translation from a set of two kinds of word pairs of parallel translation, created in (S2) and (S3), (S4).
