PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve loading performance by preventing a fall of stored articles only by the addition of simple parts to a conventional article storage rack.;SOLUTION: A direct stack type article storage rack defines a plurality of columns 2 for storing a vertical stack of articles 6 inside an open-front rack case 1, has column doors 4 in front, and dispenses the lowest stored articles in order by actions of vending mechanisms 5 based on selling commands. On each column 3, a plurality of separate guard members 9 projected into an article passage from a front boundary of the passage to prevent a fall of the stack of stored articles are dispersed vertically at intervals h longer than the height of one article. The stack of stored articles in the column is prevented from falling down, and at article replenishment, articles are loaded into the column through the intervals of the vertical line of guard members without interference with the guard members.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
