PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output information on the type of a sheet material even when the information such as a code is not fixed to the sheet material beforehand.;SOLUTION: An impact application part 1000 is formed so as to provide an impact to the sheet material 1010 by utilizing a gravity or electric force. When the impact is provided to the sheet material 1010, the impact is attenuated in a process of being transmitted to the sheet material 1010, and the information is outputted as signals from a detection part 1020. Since the signals vary depending on the type of the sheet material 1010, the type of the sheet material can be distinguished based on the signals. By this method, even when the information such as the code is not fixed to the sheet material beforehand, the information on the type of the sheet material can be outputted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
