PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the temperature characteristics of a recording head caused by the heat value or heat outflow quantity of the recording head adaptable to various uses among individual differences of the recording head.;SOLUTION: The temperature characteristics of the recording head are known on the basis of the temperature change of the recording head at the time of application of predetermined energy to the heater of the recording head. The threshold value at the time of detection of the non-discharge state of the recording head is determined by utilizing the temperature characteristics to accurately judge whether or not the ink discharge state of the recording head is good.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
