A skin cleansing composition comprising: (1) 1% to 99% by weight of a surfactant system comprising: (a) 1% to 30% by wt. of at least one anionic surfactant; and (b) 0.5% to 15% by wt. of an amphoteric surfactant; (2) 0.5% to 9% by wt. hydroxy carboxylic acid; (3) 0.001% to 5% by weight of an antibacterial agent; and (4) 1% to 99% by weight water.
