The invention relates to a method for producing a screen printing stencil. According to the invention, a carrier surface is coated especially by means of a roller squeegee or an air squeegee, by screen roller application or by spray application, in such a way that a coating paste in an uncross-linked state consisting of a laser-engravable material is applied to a printing tissue, and is subjected to a hardening or cross-linking process, and the coating is then subsequently processed by means of laser radiation on the printing tissue. The coating paste consisting of a laser-engravable material is applied to a dimensionally stable transfer film, and is transferred from the transfer film to the printing tissue in the uncross-linked state. It has been proven advantageous to apply the coating paste to the printing tissue for the serigraphy, said printing tissue being stretched on a screen printing stencil, and to apply the coating over the entire surface or a part of the same.
