PURPOSE: Welsh onion salt containing salt and Welsh onion is provided together with a production method thereof. Therefore, the salt avoids the troublesome salting step during cooking, and has fast dissolution and long-term preservation while providing characteristic flavor of Welsh onion. CONSTITUTION: The Welsh onion salt comprises 87.1 to 93.5% by weight of powdery processed salt, 6.0 to 12% by weight of Welsh onion powder and 0.1 to 0.9% by weight of water. Green Welsh onion is cut to 1 to 3mm, browned at 75 to 95deg.C for from 30min to 1.5hr and dried at 60 to 80deg.C for 6 to 10hr with hot air to produce the Welsh onion powder. The processed salt is obtained by grinding processed salt with a grinder and then straining it through a sieve with 60 meshes.
