PURPOSE: Provided are preparations for protecting enzymes and anti-ageing comprising a kaempferol derived from Nelumbo nucifera. The kaempferol inhibits the reactivity of peroxynitrite and scavenges free radicals which generate peroxynitrite. CONSTITUTION: Pharmaceutical compositions for protecting enzyme and anti-aging are characterized by containing, as an active ingredient, kaempferol which is represented by the formula(1). The kaempferol is derived from the extract of Nelumbo nucifera.
