PURPOSE: A high density optical disk, and a method for reading and writing a high density optical disk are provided to accurately read and confirm primary information, minimize interference between marks and spaces according to high density recording, and reduce the influence due to scratches and dust, thereby preventing an error in data read and write operations. CONSTITUTION: A high density optical disk includes a lead-in area(301), a data area(302), and a lead-out area(303). Primary information recorded at the lead-in area, such as disk size, disk structure, recorded density, and data area allocation, are recorded in minimum mark/space longer than minimum mark/space of general video and audio data recorded at the data area.
